Design, usability and the web

London’s Kerning

So I guess some of you will have seen this before, but I really enjoyed it a while back and find myself keeping returning. It’s a map of london formed only type, in different sizes, weights and paths to show the shape and size of the roads and monuments. And it’s really, really pretty:

Londons Kerning

Click through on the image to have a look at it in the Blanka shop, where it is unfortunately £100; if I’m spending that much I want a Dan Hillier print! You can actually see my road on the section above, but the whole thing is 1.5×1m, so pretty intense. I did have it as my desktop background for a little while, but given my over reliance on geekthing, it all went a little bit OTT.

New theme, new CMS, no content(yet)

Hi there; as you can see, felixcohen.co.uk is a bit barren at the moment. You can still click here to visit the old site.I’m going to use this new wordpress install as a clean slate for my personal blogging. No more inanities about my new surf board (though, damn, is it beautiful).Instead, I’ll be using this space to talk about design, code, usability and other web technology related things (although there will be plenty of discussion about real world stuff). So I’d suggest hitting up the RSS and waiting for the torrents of wisdom to spurt forth.
